Situation: The Blessing Health System is the largest healthcare provider in the Tri-State Region composed of West Central Illinois, Northeast Missouri, and Southeast Iowa, with a service area of 250,000. The System is comprised of two hospitals and two multi-specialty provider groups with 220+ employed providers. Financially, it is a very strong organization with substantial operating reserves. The physician sought will be employed by Blessing Physician Services (BPS) and will join another Hematology/Medical Oncology physician and an NP.
Community: BPS and Blessing Hospital are located in Quincy, Illinois, population 50,000, which is located on high limestone bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River near the westernmost point of Illinois. Quincy is renowned for its natural beauty, preservation of its exceptional stock of Victorian Era homes, and its highly developed programs in the arts. The community also offers excellent public and parochial schools, a public 2-year community college, a private 4-year university, two private vocational colleges, fine dining, expansive and well developed parks, and abundant recreational facilities. An $89 million school bond issues was passed several years ago which led to construction of five new, state-of-the art elementary schools. These schools were built to replace aging and outdated buildings. An addition was also added to Quincy Senior High School (QHS) to make room for 9th graders. This will move the district to a configuration of five K-5 elementary schools, grades 6-8 at the current junior high, and grades 9-12 at QHS. Technology updates have been made at all schools. Students have been provided an updated and engaging learning environment to prepare them for success in an increasingly technology driven world.
Quincy is located two hours from St. Louis, three and a half hours from Kansas City, and four hours from Chicago.
